How to Buy Meme Coins in the US (Solana & Phantom Guide)
The large meme coins are easy to buy in the US. Dogecoin (DOGE), Shiba Inu (SHIB), Pepe (PEPE) and Bonk (BONK) were listed on Coinbase, Kraken, Gemini, Bitstamp and Crypto.com in our latest check, so you can buy them like any other coin. Newer meme coins are a different story. Many launch on Solana and never reach a US exchange, and you buy those with a Solana wallet such as Phantom and a DEX such as Jupiter. Of the 45 meme coins in the top 500 by market cap when we checked in October 2026, 20 weren't on any of the six US exchanges we track.
Which meme coins can you buy on a US exchange?
Open the Meme category on Lasso. A coin with a buy button is listed on at least one US exchange, and clicking it shows which ones. This is the simplest route: no wallet to manage, and the exchange holds the coins for you.

- Buy SOLOn a US exchange
- Send to PhantomSolana network
- Swap on JupiterPaste the mint address
How to buy a Solana meme coin with Phantom
- Buy SOL on Coinbase or another US exchange. You'll swap it for the meme coin and use a little to pay network fees.
- Install Phantom, a wallet that supports Solana. Write the recovery phrase down, store it offline, and never share it or type it into a website.
- Withdraw SOL to Phantom using the Solana network. Coinbase warns that funds sent on the wrong network are lost. Send a small test amount first.
- Swap SOL for the token on Jupiter, a widely used Solana swap app that checks several routes to find a price, using the token's exact contract address (on Solana it's called the mint address). Each Solana coin page on Lasso links to Jupiter with the address filled in.
Tokens on other networks follow the same pattern with a different gas coin and wallet. See how to buy crypto not listed on Coinbase for those.
What to check before you buy
- Contract address. Copycat tokens with the same name appear constantly. Buy only the address you verified from a trusted source.
- Daily volume. If a coin trades a few thousand dollars a day, you may not be able to sell it. Lasso warns you when volume is very thin.
- Holders. When a handful of wallets own most of the supply, they can crash the price by selling. A block explorer shows how the supply is spread.
- Promises. "Guaranteed 100x", fake celebrity endorsements and pressure to buy right now are red flags.
- Amount. Meme coins can lose most of their value quickly, and on-chain trades can't be undone. Use only money you can afford to lose.
The IRS treats crypto as property, and you must report sales and exchanges of one digital asset for another, so selling a meme coin or swapping it for another coin is generally a taxable event. Keep records of every trade.
Find meme coins you can actually buy
Browse the Meme or Solana Meme category on Lasso. Each coin shows whether a US exchange lists it and, if none does, the exact on-chain route. New exchange listings show up on our new listings page.
